Romance, exquisitely comfortable beds, great sightseeing, and a secluded hot tub ...

Welcome to the heart of the Peak District National Park and the lovely market town of Bakewell. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are two of the best heritage houses in the UK. Walk along the hilltops or river valleys.  The great Monsal Trail begins in Bakewell - a disused railway track recently improved for walking, cycling or horse riding away from traffic and uninterrupted from Bakewell to Buxton.  There's a great cookery school in Tideswell where you can try your hand at brewing, bread making or just gaining confidence in the kitchen.

Pubs, cafes and restaurants have delicious menus to tempt, all with a great welcome.  We're Bill & Marilyn Nichols, farming in harmony with the environment and wildlife for two and a half decades here in the Peak District.  Our farmhouse is a great place to stay on the ancient Haddon Hall estate, built of mellow stone on the site of the ancient lost manor of Burton.  Nestled deep in a green valley,  the sparkling River Wye meanders through our meadows.  You'll be already familiar with the fabulous Peak District, having seen it used as the backdrop in recent films, "Pride & Prejudice", "Jane Eyre", "The Duchess".  Movie makers adore the landscape of the Peak District.  It's a great place to enjoy your precious time away.

A Great  Place to Stay - Fabulous SceneryHave you a Special Person to Impress?

We've individually themed rooms with king size beds including a romantic 4 poster.  Have a look at the Accommodation page (above) for pictures of great bedrooms you'll never want to leave - everything you've hoped for when imagining a blissful quiet time away with your favourite person. Sumptuous linen, loads of comfy pillows and bolsters, quality beds that give long uninterrupted and blissful nights of deep sleep, awakening to the treat of a whole day of fun stretching before you.  Our home is at the heart of the amazing and surprising Peak District National Park:  rolling countryside with views of near and distant hills, stone walls, leafy field margins and mile-high skies. We have maps and guide books for you to borrow, and informed advice where you might like to spend your day. Public footpaths are at our door offering a gentle picturesque stroll or an all day hilltop challenge.  Of course, you'll be welcome to wander on our 400 acre farm.  The Haddon Hall estate has paths and lanes connecting with the Chatsworth House estate - up and over the hill and down the valley beyond - well away from all traffic - just you and the birds!

Why This is a Slice of Heaven:

Our award-winning mixed farm is set in in the heart of the national park,  the River Wye carving the valleys.   We are working with the RSPB, the National Park and DEFRA to encourage the lapwing population within an environmental scheme.  You might see and hear buzzards, hawks, owls, badgers.   Swallows return from Africa every April to nest in our farm buildings. The riverside meadow habitat encourages otters and small mammals.  You can take a picnic over to the river, find a comfy perch on a tree stump and watch the dance of sunbeams on sparkling water.  Even in inclement weather (dressed in appropriate gear and booted suitably), a riverside walk calms and revives.

Why You'll Want to Return to this Boutique B&B:

Our guests are our Hotel Inspectors and we aim to impress with our attention to detail.  We've got a zest and enthusiasm for what matters to you:  excellent quality beds and linen, thick luscious towels, tasty breakfasts cooked to order.   A fabulous hot tub nestles in a secluded corner pavilion in the garden - an hour's session included as part of a two night stay.  Under cover of this pavilion, a canopy of stars change hue as energetic jets soothe your aches to leave you with a great feeling of well-being.

HHF2-002a.jpgWe hope you'll feel instantly at home, able to relax and unwind. Our home is an exquisitely comfortable B&B ... yet personal and quiet.   Conversation 'round the breakfast-table often stretches on into the morning, as carafes of fresh coffee and my famous morning-baked blueberry muffins disappear.  It's a great place to linger, look at the view and feel the workaday strains leave you!  Give Marilyn a call now on 01629-814024 or e mail marilynnichols1@me.com

We have good availability through the coming months.  Pubs beckon, the hilltop walks have a mile high blue crystal ceiling.  Breakfasts are to your order, at a time you'd like.  The beds are so comfortable you'll never want to get up.  We'd be pleased to talk about your plans for your time away this weekend, or later this year.  For romantics, we've a 4 poster bed and a hot tub - the possibilities are now over to you.
